We all knew him. A good man, Allah fearing man. Humble and unassuming, though his knowledge was vast. A well respected man. And to us children then, he never showed any anger or even blinked an eye, even though we used to make a lot of noise playing near his house (near the masjid). When he passed away (do not really know what year) we lost the good man. And his descendants are many (and well respected) in Lipat Kajang.
In the book, Monograf, Pahang Dalam Sejarah VI, yang di editkan oleh Yaakub Isa & Mohammad Mokhtar, diterbitkan oleh Lembaga Muzium Negeri Pahang, muka 9 dinyatakan " ........ ramai ulamak Pahang yang menerima pendidikan di Mekah kembali ke tanah air dan membuka pondok pengajian di tempat masing-masing. Di antara mereka ialah:
1923 ........ Tuan Haji Ahmad Hurairah - di Lipat Kajang, Temerloh"
Lipat Kajang people (or decendents) are encouraged to participate& contribute (Orang Lipat Kajang, atau keturunan, di jemput memberi sumbangan idea)

I must add this about Arwah Yg Bhg Hj Ahmad. In the late 40s and early 50s, rubber price shot up and many could afford to buy 'peti nyanyi' (hand wound gramaphone). One of his children bought a 'peti nyanyi' and at that time all of them (I think all) were living in his house in Lipat Kajang. Music was frowned upon but his children were wise, they bought Arabic music. We could hear them playing Arabic music all day long (a bit exagerated but almost the whole truth .....), at that time we used to spend the whole day at Mukim Salleh's house, his neighbour (Teh Semam - Mukim Salleh's son - and I are good friends).

surely arwah Tuan Hj Ahmad's grandchildren (Nong Zuki and others) or great grandchildren (Sirad and others) are able to narrate to us whatever that he/she knows about his/her ulamak grandfather,
i for one certainly want to learn more about this pious man, this religious figurehead
i think someone can even write a book on the life of Tuan Hj Ahmad Hurairah the Grand Ulamak of Kg Lipat kajang Pahang

ReplyDeleteI do have a hand written note about the date of the demise of our late Tuan Guru Hj Ahmad by my late brother inlaw - Abang Puda.
My father's house was the nearest to his house,I just couldn't remember much about him but I clearly remember that he had a large collection of hand written Koraan. All beautifully written, some with colors. Long after that in the 70's after the big flood which I think had destroyed all copies I had the idea of why I do not asked for a copy of the Koraan before leaving the kampong for good from MAKNUN. And years later during my balik kampong I had met and asked Maknun about the koraan and he said not a single copy was saved.I regretted it very much that was the end of the Koraan.
