Lipat Kajang Diary

9th May 2009, the day I was asked to address the school children of Lipat Kajang, Pahang, Malaysia the village I was born in years ago, the village where I grew up (my parents, my grandparents and my great grandparents and all those above who came to settle in the village about 200 to 300 years ago) and the village I return to off and on, to see friends and relatives who ever are still living. The Malay School (now called Sekolah Kebagsaan or National School) Lipat Kajang, Temerloh Pahang, my alma mater. The address speech is blogged in this blog.

Before that we had a group photograph taken.

However there were other aspects of Kampong Lipat Kajang that I wish to record here, aspects which are related or not related.

On the day before, I happened to listen to a local band playing. I thought that its worth a mention. Here they are, playing a pop band in Lipat Kajang. (see movie)

Earlier when I arrived, I heard the ‘azan’ at the local ‘mesjid’. This was new to me, normally I have never heard ‘azan’ (as far as I can remember) from the ‘mesjid’ except on Fridays before the Friday prayers, (and this was an Asar time even though it was a Friday). I was so happy at the change, it was an improvement. And I went to the ‘mesjid’ to join them for the Asar prayers. And there were 3 other men and 3 ladies at that Asar prayers at the ‘mesjid’. Two of them were my kampong good friends.

And where I gave address on the 9th, I had these audience listening. I felt honoured.

And after that I watched a top spinning demonstration, an old friend of mind who is very skillful at making tops and at spinning tops (and playing competitive top) from the village. See how well balanced these tops were made, how skillful he was at spinning two tops (in fact later he used 3 tops) spinning well balanced, erected and stationary on top of the table. The tops may be spinning lasting like that for about 5 to 8 minutes or even more if the table top is of hard material. (Need not worry about the speeches in the background, they were talking while watching)(see movie)

You saw 2 tops on that table, but 3 tops can also be made to spin at the same time.

Nota:

Lipat Kajang people (or decendents) are encouraged to participate& contribute (Orang Lipat Kajang, atau keturunan, di jemput memberi sumbangan idea)

  2. just to add about the development in Lipat Kajang, which I should had included in this dairy ........ the person who is starting a big project in Lipat Kajang has gone to Alor Setar to attend a course on fresh water fish, at his own expense I understand. Good luck to him and good luck to Lipat Kajang.

  4. about ICT in Lipat Kajang, I also found out on the 9th that there are a few people already well into ICT literate in Lipat Kajang. We may need to encourage them more and provide them with the necessary facilities. Why don't we contribute towards an ICT centre at the Balai Penghulu Lipat Kajang or at the Lipat Kajang Balai Raya, just an internet line with wireless HiFi facilities using Wireless Router. Who pays the monthly bill? The kampong actually has got a budget for that from the District Office (?) or from Kemas (?). With such facilities almost everyone in the kampong can get access to Internet. From information I get, I am told that they do that in some kampong in Perak. So why don't we? Pahang State ICT Club, tak boleh tolong ke'?

  5. i am quite sure there are trickling positive effects arising from the LK blog, though indirectly it maybe, very prompting, whether we want to admit it or not
encouraging news about happenings in LK that we've nvr heard before, not until the end of 2008 that I've heard of anything
looks like we all can balik kampong and start something, the prevailing stituation and opportunities seem very alluring
...for those who are still capable and strong enough to sweat it out

  6. I have never given up on Lipat Kajang though I must admit that we all have to put our heads together to improve the people of Lipat Kajang in whatever ways that we can contribute.

And I do not want to see Lipat Kajang as a 'kampong tinggal', not ever.

Pandangan saya kepada kawan2 semua, tolong balek kampong 'off and on' walau pun singgah sekejab berjumpa sdr mara, dan sekiranya tiada lagi sdr mara, lawati 'Tok Munkin' dan perkenalkan diri.

nok gone' kan...segala galanya adalah rahmat dari Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, you win some you lose some...Dia Yang Maha Adil

Sekiranya sesiapa balek kampong, elok lah pergi melawat beliau.
